Meet Roshana Gossoff
- How many years have you been a member of PRSA?Four years
- How did you first start down your career path?I had amazing professors during my undergraduate and graduate years who made sure I was exposed to great opportunities, and recommended me for my first internships and jobs. My first PR-specific internship was with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB). During that time, I read through articles in publications (some in languages I don’t speak) looking for mentions, clipping them, and working on coverage reports, along with pulling together press kits and thinking through possible media familiarization trip itineraries. I loved my time with the GMCVB!
- What is your proudest professional accomplishment? I’m most proud of the incredible relationships I’ve built throughout both my academic and professional careers. I’ve worked with are some of my closest friends now. I’m also proud of the way we rally to support one another in finding career or development opportunities, brainstorming solutions and thinking creatively.
- What do you find most rewarding about your job? The most rewarding part of my job is the amazing people I get to call my teammates and friends. I consider them family.
- What is your motto? “How can I help?” I always try my hardest to be a support system for those I work with and to do my part to make their lives easier… especially when we’re working on deadlines or get thrown for a loop.
- What advice would you give to anyone interested in pursuing a career in marketing, communications, and public relations? I always suggest people interested in pursuing a PR or communications career do internships or participate in volunteer PR activities. The more industries they can explore with firsthand experience, the better. The work we do as public relations professionals varies so drastically by industry, company, role, etc. Additionally, make sure you’re looking for stretch opportunities and always assessing ways to be more efficient and effective.
- How does PRSA help you? PRSA has helped me in so many ways! We as members have access to endless resources and tools to leverage and learn from – case studies, courses, webinars, etc. PRSA also provides a network of so many talented members who can offer unique perspectives and offer guidance on a variety of topics and situations.
